Son Heung-min to Miss Spurs' Cup Clash with City

Tottenham will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup without captain Son Heung-min, who is sidelined with a hamstring issue. Manager Ange Postecoglou is hopeful for Son's return against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Tottenham will miss captain Son Heung-min for Wednesday's Carabao Cup match against Manchester City as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury. Son came back from missing three matches to score against West Ham but experienced soreness following Spurs’ victory on October 19, leading him to miss games against AZ Alkmaar and Crystal Palace.

Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Son's main objective is to return in time for the Premier League match against Aston Villa on Sunday. "Sonny is almost fit, but we're aiming for the weekend," Postecoglou stated confidently.

The only other confirmed absentee for Spurs is Wilson Odobert, who experienced a significant setback in training and is awaiting further evaluation. In Son's absence, 17-year-old Mikey Moore started in Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. However, Timo Werner, who's been struggling with his form, and a fit-again Richarlison are both in contention to start on the left against City.

Though cautious about revealing his lineup, Postecoglou stressed that Tottenham will not prioritize one match over another, even with consecutive fixtures. "I would hate for any supporter to believe we put more effort into one game than another. Our duty is to deliver our best every day for our supporters and everyone associated with this club," he said.
