St Mirren Extends Stephen Robinson's Contract to 2027

St Mirren Football Club cements its future, extending manager Stephen Robinson's contract through 2027. This move aims to sustain the renaissance under his leadership, marked by historic achievements and a return to European competition.

St Mirren Football Club has taken a significant step to safeguard its future, with manager Stephen Robinson signing a contract extension that will keep him in charge until the summer of 2027. This bold commitment demonstrates the club's ambition to sustain its recent progress under Robinson's leadership, which has led to a resurgence not witnessed for almost forty years.

Since joining in February 2022, Robinson has transformed St Mirren into a formidable team, leading them to back-to-back top-six finishes in the Scottish Premiership—a milestone the club hadn't achieved in nearly four decades. Notably, he also led the club back to European competition for the first time since 1987, cementing his status as a key figure in the club’s recent history.

St Mirren Chairman, John Needham, praised Robinson's impact: "As a Board, we are delighted to have secured Stephen's services for the long term. His new contract reflects the club's ambition and our desire to uphold the high standards he has established. Under his leadership, we’ve enjoyed sustained success, and extending his tenure demonstrates our commitment to continue progressing."

Robinson, just as eager about the extension, highlighted his strong bond with the club and its long-term objectives: 'I'm thrilled to commit my future to St Mirren. We are incredibly proud of the progress made over the past two and a half seasons, and we are determined to build upon it. From the first team to the academy, a lot of positive work has been accomplished behind the scenes, and I am lucky to have an excellent working relationship with Jim Gillespie and Keith Lasley. Together, we are concentrated on elevating this club to new heights.'

Despite a recent slump in form, with a few challenging results not going in their favor, Robinson remains confident in the team's capabilities and long-term potential. "We have encountered some challenges lately, but there is no lack of belief in what we are constructing here. The Board's steadfast support gives us the assurance to continue developing the club sustainably, both on and off the field."

He further emphasized the need for forward-thinking strategies for a club of St Mirren's stature, balancing immediate outcomes with medium-term goals: 'It's essential for a club like ours to think ahead. We have some exciting ideas in the pipeline, and while improving our recent results is a priority, we're also establishing the foundation for ongoing success.'

Robinson's contract extension represents a long-term dedication from both the manager and the club, focused on encouraging growth and sustaining the progress that has brought St Mirren back into prominence in Scottish football. His profound understanding of the game, along with his practical approach to management, makes him the perfect person to guide St Mirren into this next phase.

As the team navigates its recent challenges, the message from the club is unmistakable: Robinson's leadership is deemed crucial for unlocking St Mirren's potential, and both he and the Board are committed to moving forward, ensuring that the recent successes are merely the start.
